Dry Sauna vs Steam Sauna: What's the Deal?
It's the same traditional Finnish sauna either way; dry or steam is just how you choose to run it.
Dry Heat
No water on the stones. Just heat, typically 80-100°C, with low humidity throughout the session. This is the traditional Finnish sauna in its simplest form.
Steam (Löyly)
Ladle water, sometimes scented with eucalyptus oil, over the hot stones and you get löyly: a short, sharp lift in heat and humidity. It's the classic Finnish way to sauna, and it's entirely your call when and how often to add it.

Steam rooms are much cooler (around 40-50°C) and can achieve up to 100% humidity continuously, using a generator rather than a heater.
Infrared saunas offer radiant heat, with no steam at all, operating at a lower temperature (40–60°C) and generally requiring longer sessions.
